Here's my favorite fall salad! This healthy salad with grapes and apples is crunchy, sweet, savory, nutty, so refreshing and delicious!

This salad is loaded with delicious fall flavors like apples, grapes, walnuts (which are in season), and raisins. All mixed with crunchy cabbage, lettuce, and a Balsamic Vinaigrette with a hint of honey.
Table Of Contents
The refreshing and light sweet and sour flavor of this green salad with grapes is truly appetizing. I love it as a side salad, but also enjoy it at the end of the meal. It feels so digestive and the sweetness of the fruit feels like you're having the lightest of desserts!
Grapes in salad are a great way to give a more formal look to a plain green salad. Think of all the fancy gatherings in Ancient times where grapes were the centerpiece of every table (how far did I go right?).
This green salad with grapes and nuts is the perfect one to serve during all fall and winter holidays. The fruity flavors of this salad go so well with any roast meat.

Salad Ingredients
- Grapes. I'm using large pink grapes that are sweet and crisp. You may use other grapes, but avoid using grapes that have been sitting around for too long and become soft.
- Apples. Granny Smiths are the perfect apple for this salad, for a balanced sweetness. Using another type of apple would make this salad too sweet unless you use tart green grapes and sweet red apples.
- Walnuts. They match perfectly with grapes, apples, and raisins. But you can easily swap with pecans since they're from the same plant family and very similar in flavor and texture.
- Raisins. I'm using red raisins but you can swap for cranberries, dried cherries, or even chopped dried figs.
- Cabbage. For this salad, I use white cabbage but red cabbage or a mixture of both is good too!
- Lettuce. Crunchy romaine lettuce please, or iceberg even.
- Arugula. It helps balance the sweetness of the other ingredients. You can skip it if you don't like it.
Additional Ingredients
Here are a few additional ingredients you can toss into or on top of this salad!
- Cheese. Serve with a spoonful or two of cottage cheese, soft Mizithra cheese, Ricotta, or Goat cheese on top.
- Sesame seeds. Mix some into the salad for an extra nutty flavor. You can even toast them before mixing them in.
- Pine nuts. If you ask me toasted pine nuts are a yes to every salad (except Greek salad I guess).
- Kale. Some finely chopped crunchy kale is also a great addition to this grape salad with walnuts.

The Vinaigrette
To make a light, sweet, and sour Vinaigrette for this grape and apple salad you need Balsamic vinegar, extra virgin olive oil, a small amount of honey, apple cider, or white wine vinegar.
If you like bold flavors try swapping honey with Molasses. Or use a fruit-flavored Balsamic vinegar (flavored with orange or pomegranate for example).
To make the Vinaigrette whisk together all the ingredients until it thickens into a sauce. If you let it sit for too long it will start to separate. No worries, just whisk again!
TIP: Mix the cabbage with the vinaigrette, apples, and raisins and allow to marinate in the fridge for 30 minutes and up to 2 hours. Then mix in the remaining ingredients (lettuce, arugula, grapes, walnuts). This will make the flavor of the salad much stronger without losing its crunchy texture!
Serve With
This grape salad goes well with a Pork Roast or Lamb Roast. Greek side dishes to serve with this delicious green grape salad are Tiropita Rolls and Whipped Goat Cheese, and as for dessert, try this Goat's Milk Honey Pie.
